Alexander M. Lewis

Alexander Lewis practices in the areas of tax and estate planning, with a focus on cross-border transactions, pre-immigration, expatriation, and offshore compliance planning. He also helps advise clients with complex domestic and international trust structures

Prior to joining KHD, Alexander worked in the International Tax Private Client group of RSM US LLP. There, he helped provide advice to both corporate and private clients, both domestic and international, in individual and business planning matters. This included advising clients about the U.S. tax consequences of contributions or distributions from foreign entities, pensions, trusts, or other vehicles. Alexander also helped advise several clients on a range of pre-immigration issues, including income tax planning (pre and post-arrival in the U.S.), as well as the creation or management of foreign and U.S. tax organizational structures to minimize U.S. tax consequences.

Prior to joining RSM, Alexander worked for a legal news publisher where he wrote news and analysis focused on developments in international taxation. His primary focus was tax treaties, transfer pricing, and foreign tax credits, and he extensively covered the OECD’s base erosion and profit shifting project. 

Alexander is a member of both the Virginia Bar and American Bar Association sections of taxation. 

Alexander received his J.D., LL.M. in Taxation, and Master of Business Administration from the University of Miami in 2015. Alexander received his B.S. from Indiana University in 2011, majoring in economic consulting, public policy, and operations management. He also minored in political science.
